Shahrukh Khan upset with the media

The celebrities and the media are known for their love-hate relationship. This is proved by Shahrukh Khan’s statement about the press in his recent interview with a popular magazine.

Shahrukh is upset with the media for misquoting him and conveying the wrong ideas to his fans. The actor was hurt that the media had reported falsely that he was in bad terms with actress Juhi Chawla. Speaking to Filmfare, Shahrukh Khan said if he were good friends with a man, then the media would allege that he is screwing him. On the other hand, if he were not friends with someone, then he is asked why.

Referring to reports of his relationship with Salman Khan, Shahrukh said that he was  recently asked by a journalist about what wishes he would like to convey to Salman, who was then undergoing an operation to rectify his nerve disorder back in US. SRK had then replied that he wished him well. The next day apparently, the headlines said, 'SRK is offering the olive branch.'

Shahrukh, referring to the incident said, “If someone is unwell what should I say? That he doesn't get well?.”

Hmmm….this is the flip side of being a superstar. But, Shahrukh…. does this mean that you are not willing to patch up with Salman? Well, we are not speculating here, just wondering!

Asin saves a stray dog

Asin Thottumkal apparently saved a stray dog on her way to the Chennai airport. The actress, after completing shooting for a commercial in Chennai had to take a flight back to Mumbai and was on her way to Chennai airport when a car ahead of her hit a stray dog on the highway and sped off.

Asin was reportedly moved when she heard the dog yelping in pain and requested her driver to stop the car. The car had run over the leg of the dog. As per a source, Asin was unwilling to leave the dog bleed to death. The actress was fortunately early to the airport and had plenty of time in hand. Asin Thottumkal then took the dog to a vet, got it’s leg bandaged and left the dog in the care of the driver who promised to take care of it until the dog was fine.

Well, Asin has proved that she is not only smart and attractive, but also has a heart of gold. Well done Asin!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to have a grand godh bharai

The Bachchans are gearing up for a grand baby shower for their bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

As Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is approaching her due date (November 2011), Jaya Bachchan will apparently be hosting a grand baby shower or 'godh-bharai' for Ash on October 18 at their residence in Jalsa, Mumbai. Jaya Bachchan's daughter and Abhishek Bachchan's sister Shweta Bachchan has apparently flown in from Delhi to help her mother prepare for the big event.

As per reports in Times of India, the event will be held in the afternoon after which Aishwarya Rai will leave for her mother's home where she will deliver her first born. The Rais will follow their own customs and traditions.

If reports are to be believed, Jaya is focusing on every detail and has even planned on what jewellery Aishwarya will be wearing for her godh bharai. There will be singing, dancing and a lot of entertainment which is expected to be attended by 'whos-who' of the Bollywood industry. Few of the celebrities who will grace the occasion include Sussanne Roshan, Sonali Bendre, Gauri Khan, Maanayata Dutt, Kajol, Twinkle, Khanna and sister Rinke Khanna and Sridevi amongst many others.

The father-to-be Abhishek Bachchan, flew to Mumbai on Saturday from Jaipur. Abhishek has been shooting for the film Bol Bachchan Bol for nearly two months

Madhuri Dixit Nene celebrates her 12th wedding anniversary

Madhuri Dixit Nene, who recently relocated to Mumbai with family is celebrating her 12th wedding anniversary with husband Dr Sriram Madhav Nene today - October 17, 2011.

Ayesha Takia's husband decides on wife's dressing style

Ayesha Takia's husband Farhan Azmi apparently keeps a close check on the clothes that wifie wears in her films and public appearances.

Azmi hails from a conservative Muslim family with strong political background as his father Abu Azmi is state president of the Samajwadi Party. Apparently, when Ayesha Takia decided to make a comeback in Bollywood after a gap of two years post marriage, Farhan advised her to pick roles that does not harm his father's political image in any manner.

From what we hear, it seems like Farhan Azmi would be more comfortable seeing his wife covered from head to toe.

It is even being rumoured that the reason why Ayesha Takia bagged the role in MOD is because of her relationship with director-producer Nagesh Kukunoor. Ayesha apparently considers him to be brother and ties him rakhi every year. As per sources, Ayesha's husband flew down to the location where MOD was being shot to make sure everything went off well.

However, speaking to a leading newspaper, Nagesh dismissed the rumour saying he always dressed his actors to suit a particular character. Ayesha Takia also said, “I've been very particular about what I wear anyway.”

It’s why we recently decided to shut down some products, and turn others into features of existing products.

Here’s the latest update on what’s happening:

• Code Search, which was designed to help people search for open source code all over the web, will be shut down along with the Code Search API on January 15, 2012.
• In a few weeks we’ll shut down Google Buzz and the Buzz API, and focus instead on Google+. While people obviously won't be able to create new posts after that, they will be able to view their existing content on their Google Profile, and download it usingGoogle Takeout.
• Jaiku, a product we acquired in 2007 that let users send updates to friends, will shut down on January 15, 2012. We’ll be working to enable users to export their data from Jaiku.
• Several years ago, we gave people the ability to interact socially on iGoogle. With our new focus on Google+, we will remove iGoogle's social features on January 15, 2012. iGoogle itself, and non-social iGoogle applications, will stay as they are.
• The University Research Program for Google Search, which provides API access to our search results for a small number of approved academic researchers, will close on January 15, 2012.

In addition, later today the Google Labs site will shut down, and as previously announced, Boutiques.com and the former Like.com websites will be replaced by Google Product Search.

Pooja Misrra kicks bucket, breaks broom

In a fit of fury, Pooja Misrra picks fights with every Bigg Boss contestant and even destroys utilities

Pooja Misrra was mopping the kitchen floor when suddenly, out of unexplained frustration, she kicks the waste bin lying around

Shonali, who happened to be around, asks her to pick it up and not destroy household utilities. Misrra, in response, points the broom to her face and refuses to do so and even asks her if she had a problem with that. Soon, things heat up and Missra even threatens to hit Shonali

While the two are calmed down, the environment becomes only colder as Misrra can’t hold back her raging anger. In an attempt to vent her frustration she whacks the broom to the floor until it cracks and breaks and then storms into the bedroom, yelling about how she’s targeted and cornered by her housemates

Mahek and Laxmi decide to reconcile with Misrra and go to chat up with her in the bedroom. But just as they enter the bedroom, Misrra gets up violently and almost tries to hit Mahek. Mahek is calm and asks Misrra to correct her behaviour as it is unsuitable for the reality show

Misrra doesn’t care a bit about the advice being doled out to her and just says that everyone is picking on her, despite the fact that she is diligently performing the tasks allotted to her

As Misrra gets even more violent, Mahek asks her if she wants to hit her. Misrra is very tempted by this offer but aware of the rules of Bigg Boss, she refrains from doing so and just leaves the room to cool off

Missra tries to find a shoulder to cry on but none of the housemates are willing to accept her violent behaviour. In fact, the contestants on the show unite against her and even request Bigg Boss to have her removed from the show. So it’s safe to say that we finally have this season’s ‘Dolly Bindra’

This could be the mother of all scams in India

Indians seem to have taken a fancy to scams the same way that Somalians have to piracy. Almost every other breaking news on TV channels talks about some money making racket or the other. The latest scam to be unearthed may however be bigger than all the previous scams put together. And its ramifications may be even more lethal.

Under the double-tax treaty signed with the Swiss government, the Swiss will now have to provide details to the Indian government on transactions involving Indians. It's thus no big surprise that black money is quickly exiting the Swiss Alps. But then where are these illegal piles of cash going? Well, it may be coming right back to India and sitting peacefully in our own backyard. And the amount involved could be as hefty as US$ 40-45 bn. But, this is just the figure for one year, 2010-11. The actual amount of black money entering the country could be a lot more.

Do you ever look at the latest export numbers, FII data, etc. and believe that these numbers are works of fiction or a figment of someone's imagination? Well, the latest black money scam may be just that. According to three analysts from Kotak Securites, who have been studying various data points, the numbers just don't add up. Here are a couple of examples:

Official export data shows a 79% year-on-year (YoY) growth in engineering exports in 2010-11. However, exports by engineering companies in the BSE 500 index show just a 11% growth. In dollars terms, the difference is even starker. There appears to be a US$ 28 bn shortfall in exports. Now, the probability that this amount has come in through over-invoicing or fictitious exports is higher than that it came from tiny engineering companies which are not part of the BSE 500 index.

Copper exports have also quadrupled from Rs 85 bn to Rs 367 bn. But, how is this possible in India, a country which does not as a practice export this mineral. China apparently bought the whole lot. So is the dragon nation also part of this public hoodwinking?

Also, in 2010-11 foreign investor flows added up to US$ 22 bn, according to official data. The Kotak analysts did a cross-check with international sources like exchange-traded funds and EPFR Global. Their analysis shows that not more than US$ 4.5 bn came in to India. So, where did the other US$ 17.5 come from?

Well, India really needs to clean up its act. Else even the legitimate flows of capital into the country may dry up. Greater disclosures, a strong clampdown on corruption and a complete shakedown of government frauds need to take place. Anna Hazare's movement and his 12-day fast should not go in vain. And neither should India's reputation as an investment destination.

Does Hyundai Eon have it to beat competition in Maruti Alto, A-Star?

BANGLAORE: Hyundai Eon, the new small car launched by the Korean auto major on Thursday, has set the small-car segment in India on fire. With its attractive price, ranging between Rs 2.69 lakh and Rs 3.71 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the car seems to be pitted against other brands in this segment, namely Maruti's Alto and A-Star, Honda Brio, Chevrolet Spark and Tata Indica.

Sensing the competition, Maruti Suzuki recently introduced limited editions of its highest-selling brand Alto, under the new name Alto Xplore. It loaded the car with new features such as an advanced double-din stereo with USB and Bluetooth, new body graphics, outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) and sporty roof spoiler.

Alto is priced between Rs 2.32 lakh and Rs 3.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is the best selling car, averaging about 20,000 units a month.

The Alto, with 3.47 lakh cars sold last fiscal year, accounted for around 16% of all cars sold in India and is the top selling car model on the planet, having edged Volkswagen's Gol & Golf and Fiat's Punto. Hyundai aims to sell 1.5 lakh units of the Eon in a year, an ambitious target in a tepid car market and also given that the Alto took almost four years after launch to reach this level of unit sales.

Eon has been launched in six variants - D-Lite, D-Lite (O), Era, Magna, Magna (O) and Sportz. The top-end variant comes with features such as music system, driver airbag, central locking, air conditioning, power windows and power steering.

Hyundai has invested Rs 900 crore on the development and production facilities of the latest entrant in the small car segment.

Hyundai's most ambitious launch to date comes at a time Maruti has temporarily stopped Alto's production because of a longstanding labour issues, now running into its third month, and which has left the country's biggest carmaker dependent on a slender inventory to drive sales during the bumper festive period.

Anna supporters beaten up by Sri Ram Sene activists

NEW DELHI: A day after eminent lawyerPrashant Bhushan was assaulted, activists of Sri Ram Sene beat up Anna Hazare's supporters, including an elderly man who was punched and kicked in the face by a youth, outside the PatialaHouse courts.
The elderly man, Rajkumar, was severely assaulted along with two other persons. Rajkumar was repeatedly punched, dragged on the road before a jeans-clad youth rushed in and kicked him in the face.

"We were demonstrating to lodge our protest against yesterday's attack on Bhushan. We had no intention to fight but these people came and roughed up. They kicked and slapped us," said one Anna's supporters.

Rajkumar's granddaughter was one of the two little girls who had helped Hazare break his 13-day anti-corruption fast at the Ram Lila Maidan in August.

The incident took place outside Gate No 2 of the Patiala Court complext at around 5 pm when Anna supporters were registering their protest against yesterday's assault on Bhushan and objected to sloganeering by Sri Ram Sene activists against Hazare.

On Wednesday Prashant Bhushan was beaten up in his chamber afternoon allegedly for his comments on Kashmir. Prashant Bhushan was speaking to Times Now news channel when the two attackers barged into his office in the New Lawyers Chamber opposite the Supreme Court.

One of the attackers slapped, dragged and punched Bhushan repeatedly. The attacker pinned him down on the floor and kicked on his chest. As the staff and others gathered, one of the two attackers managed to escape while the other was caught and handed over to the police. The attackers entered Prashant Bhushan's office claiming that they had an appointment with him. After the attack, Bhushan said it appeared that the men targeted him for his stand on Jammu and Kashmir.

Delhi Police on Thursday morning arrested the two absconding attackers, Tejinder Singh and Vishnu Gupta.

The two had managed to flee on Wednesday from the chamber of Prashant Bhushan as people gathered after they attacked the lawyer. The third attacker Inder Verma was overpowered and arrested on Wednesday itself after the assault.
In an earlier interview in Varanasi, Prashant had reportedly said that the Kashmiri people should be given 'azadi' if they don't want to live with India. He had also reportedly recommended that withdrawl of Indian army from Kashmir.
